I'm giving myself advice here... I always forget until I need it... emergency gear! I always forget on "mere dayhikes" then I get lost... and think "wow, I'm lost, I should've brought my stuff".
Thankfully it has never gone south, but I have found myself in the dark just figuring my way back and trying to decide what would make good shelter. Not a fun feeling!
I am a wanderer. This always gets me in trouble. Getting 'lost' is the best part of the hike for me, but I still forget to bring my stuff or think 'nah, I won't need it today, it's just a well marked day trail.
NOT!
