I just planned my first solo overnight hike. I've done a lotta trips with both all-women and mixed-sex hiking, but can't wait to put my (teeny tiny list of) skills to the test :-)
My biggest fear is hurting myself...so I've made sure my 20mi loop has multiple entry-and exit locations and is close to the ranger station. I've already checked in with them and they're pumped to have a solo female hiker to kick off the start of the busy season :-)
I think anyone who is considering it should go! It's a fabulous way to simultaneously get in touch with nature and your true self. I'll have a list of dos and don'ts for all my fellow hikers when I get back!

I get emails all the time about what I wear on the trail. That's why I provide affiliate links to you: the best gear is instantly available for your consideration, and the gear company sends a few pennies per dollar to Hiking For Her's website. There is no added cost to you! Everyone ends up a winner that way: great gear for you, strong gear companies, and more free hiking tips for everyone. Yeehaw! And thanks very much for your support. It's warmly and sincerely appreciated. It also helps send these hiking tips to all your virtual trail buddies around the globe. |
