I love wearing skirts instead of pants or shorts because they are more comfortable and it's easy to throw on a pair of thermal tights underneath if it gets chilly.
I hiked the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal once and while I wore pants I ended up having to cut the pants legs shorter because I kept stepping on the backs. The back would get wet, mud stained and heavy as the day went on. After that experience I wanted nothing to do with hiking in pants.
Skirts keep you cool in hot weather, it's easier to toilet in a skirt, and there are plenty of brands that make quick drying skirts.
They look cute too!!
